Mrs. IrynaPysmichenko, the founder
ofTanays JSC:
Clear drinkingwater has always been a
problem in Donbass – the biggest industrial
region of Ukrainewhere ‘Tanays’ JSC is
located. When studying the issue of water
supply and purification for the region, our
company has performed a survey in 1993-
1995, in order to find filtering sand lands
suitable for water purification.
As a result of the explorationwork and
laboratory studies performed afterwards,
Ivanovskoye primary kaolin deposit was
prospected. According to the preliminary
estimates, the approximate capacity of primary
kaolin deposit is around 10,000,000 tons.
Porcelain clay was called kaolin after
a place in China (Kaolin), wheremassive
deposits were once discovered for the first
time. Kaolin developed due to the volcanic
formation from granitemountainmassive
during the formation of the earth’s crust.
Many ages of erosion transformed the rocks
into kaolin and silicon.
Due to its characteristics, kaolin is widely
used in paper, chemical, pharmaceutical and
cable industries. It is also used in production
of sanitary and construction purpose
ceramics, artificial leather, lacquers, paint,
dry constructionmixtures and in electrical
industry.
Sand in the deposits of primary kaolin is
divided into threemain fractions depending
on its grain-size characteristics: filtering sand,
forming sand and construction sand. Filtering
sand is used for filling thewater supply
cartridges, forming sand is used inmetallurgy
(casting) and construction sand is used as a
filling for constructionmortars.
What is particularly important, the sand
freed in the process of enrichment of primary
kaolin can be used for oil wells drilling by
means of so calledwater rupturing.
Industry especially values such physical
and chemical properties of kaolin as high

dispersion, plasticity, white color, fireproof
characteristics, etc. that make it one of the
universal types of mineral rawmaterials for
production of faience, electrical insulation,
ffireproof materials, acid-resistingmaterials,
light aluminum alloys, mineral paint,
cosmetics and glass. Kaolin acts as secondary
material (filling) for paper, rubber, soap, cable
production, etc. Rubber industry uses kaolin
to increase the abrasion-resistance qualities
of the rubber.
Mr.Mikhail Pitomtsev,Managerof
Tanays JSC:
We are looking for partners in the region
of Middle East willing to become the end
consumer of high-quality primary kaolin used
in ceramics, porcelain, paper, cardboard, high-
voltage insulation, rubber, artificial leather
and glass production (andmore).
Tanays has significant resources,
knowledge and experience. During
our activities, we try tominimize the
environmental impact. The uniquemineral
composition of the clay necessitates the
application of our trademark Quality Control
Technology throughout the production
process. Our clay undergoes quality
control beginning from thewell-drilling
and open-pit prospecting, throughout the
production process and up to the delivery
to our customers. State-of-the-art precise
technologies have become the result of
thorough research andmodern technical
designwork performed by our company.
At the same time, we actively use universal
production principles applied everywhere.
We probe and analyze each separate stratum
before excavating the clay from 3m deep.
Taking into account our experience on
the international market and knowing the
demand for this type of rawmaterial in the
Middle East countries, Tanays looks forward to
successful and fruitful work in this region. We
invite everybody to cooperation!
